What we supply

We produce carbonized coconut shell in bulk. It arrives as broken pieces of black charcoal, screened and moisture-checked, packed in bags and loaded into containers. Our buyers crush it, grind it, press it or activate it as part of their own process.

This is one input material, produced to a consistent specification, container by container.

From nature to charcoal

Our process

Traditional drum kiln production. No additives and no binders are used at any stage. The charcoal contains nothing but coconut shell.

The test methods named above are the standards these properties are normally measured against. The report we send names the exact methods used for your batch, and the lot number it was taken from.

If your process depends on a property that is not in this table — sulphur, hardness, bulk density or a particular screened size — tell us and we will have it measured rather than estimate it for you.

We do not publish laboratory results on this page. The figures move slightly between production batches, and a report only certifies the sample it was taken from. We would rather send you the report for the batch you are actually buying, with the lot number on it.

Who we supply

Who we supply

Four kinds of factory buy this material. What each of them needs from it is different, so tell us what you make and we will quote the right grade.

Shisha cube manufacturers

Crush and press the charcoal into cubes. Low ash matters most, and the ash must burn light in colour. Low and consistent volatile matter keeps the cubes free of odour and sparking.

BBQ briquette manufacturers

Grind the charcoal and bind it into briquettes. Piece size matters little because everything is milled. Consistent moisture and a high fixed carbon content give a predictable burn time.

Activated carbon producers

Carbonize and activate the material further. They hold the tightest ash limit of any buyer, and they need hard, dense charcoal that survives activation without breaking down into fines.

Metallurgical and chemical buyers

Use the charcoal as a carbon source in a process. Fixed carbon, low ash and low sulphur decide the sale, along with lump strength and a cap on fines. Appearance does not matter.

Shipping classification

Charcoal ships as UN 1361, class 4.2. Since January 2026 there is no exemption from this, so every shipment moves as a declared dangerous goods booking. We prepare the dangerous goods declaration, and our safety data sheet is on this site to download. The rules also require the charcoal to be weathered for at least 14 days after production before it is packed, which we do, and which is why the lead time above cannot be shortened. Tell us your destination port early, because a few carriers and ports handle this booking differently.

What buyers ask before they order

The four questions that come up in almost every first enquiry, answered here so you do not have to ask them.

Dry basis or as received?

Ash, fixed carbon and volatile matter are quoted on a dry basis. Moisture is as received, measured at packing. Calorific value states its basis on the report. We put this in writing before you order.

Specifications

How much fits in a container?

Container capacity depends on the charcoal piece size, grading and packing density. As a general loading estimate, a 20ft container holds approximately 12 MT, while a 40ft container holds approximately 24 MT. Final loading quantity is confirmed before booking.

Packing and loading

Is charcoal dangerous goods?

Yes. It ships as UN 1361, class 4.2. Since January 2026 there is no exemption from this, so every shipment moves as a declared dangerous goods booking. We prepare the declaration and the safety data sheet.

Shipping

Can I test it first?

Yes. Ask for a sample before a first order and tell us the specification you work to, so we send the right grade. A third-party laboratory report is available on request.
